The house is so quiet!

The girls have been camping since Monday and the house seems so quiet. It almost seems more quiet than before they came. I miss their chatter and laughter and even their picking. I was never meant to live alone.

The good news is that they have been having so much fun in Devon camping. I only have gotten bits and pieces, but here is what I have heard:

- They arrived at camp late Monday night and set up camp in the dark.
- They went bike riding almost all day on Tuesday
- Each got a new bikini - and apparently Amber's is quite skimpy - but only so it goes under her ... wetsuit!
- Each got a wetsuit and then went body boarding.
- Today they are going to try surfing.

Sharon and David and their kids are awesome and so wonderful to include us all on their holiday! And they are busy!

I am heading out on a train tomorrow to meet up with them. I cannot wait! I only wish Richard were here to go with me.

Camping

The girls are off to North Devon to go camping with some family friends - my friend Sharon and her family to be precise. They are so excited. I just got word that they arrived and are pitching their tents in the dark and trying to find the bathrooms.

Here is the description of the campsite from the website:
"You will rest your caravan or pitch your tent in a grassy field far from the pressure of modern life with large pitches facing south with panoramic views over Braunton Burrows to the Taw estuary and across the Torridge towards Bideford and Appledore. It is the ideal area for many holidaymakers. Lobb Fields is just over a mile from Braunton village and under two miles from Saunton beach, a beautiful three mile stretch of golden sand that's never crowded."

Sounds very nice and very British. Here are a few pictures of what I have to look forward this weekend when I join them.

Dancing to the oldies

Not that I need the incentive

If you know me,you know I am strongly opposed to smoking. Never smoked anything in my life and never will. I have seen many friends and family have various health problems due to smoking and I just think it stinks.
Anyway, many, many, many people here smoke. But a good deal of them roll their own cigarettes - which is odd to me I guess. But I think this is the reason why. Here are what cigarette packages look like here.

They use a variety of photos as well. Sometimes it is a burnt out lung, sometimes a diseased heart, etc. Pretty gross - yet people keep buying them and smoking them - yuck!

OK - I am off of my soap box now.

Gala Night

Last night, the girls and I had a Spa Night and gave ourselves manicures and pedicures. This was all in preparation for Gala Night.

Gala Night is when we get all dressed up in nice dresses and eat a nice dinner at the table with fancy glasses and nice music. Gala Night was tonight.

After dinner, we hopped on the computer quickly to read the girls' blogs for the day. While doing so, the beautifully dressed and pampered girls exhibited the finest in etiquette - by breaking wind quite loudly.

Ahhh, we are so high class.
